If you are anything like me, I like to maximize my paid time off from work. Finding weekend trips near me that I can fly to and enjoy a long weekend is my favorite way to use holiday weekends or just for a random extended weekend trip. Check out these international locations easily accessible from the East Coast that will scratch that itch to get another passport stamp.

Paris, France
Let's start with grabbing a croissant in an iconic destination that never disappoints. Paris, the City of Lights, captivated me with its timeless elegance, world-renowned landmarks, and rich and amazing food. Nestled along the banks of the Seine, this city captivates visitors with its romantic ambiance, world-renowned museums, picturesque boulevards lined with historic architecture, and restaurants celebrated worldwide. Walking off the train and turning around to see Notre Dame lit up at night had my heart singing and I knew this was a city I was going to love exploring.

From the majestic silhouette of the Eiffel Tower to the enchanting cobblestone streets of Montmartre, every corner of Paris offers a captivating blend of art, history, and amazing food. One of my favorite meals was when I gathered ingredients from an open-air market by my hotel and gorged on a selection of delectable cheeses, olives, spreads, and fresh baguettes.
Wandering through the storied halls of the Louvre to fight for space to see the Mona Lisa, savoring delicate pastries at charming cafés, and enjoying shopping in world-famous boutiques are just a few reasons why Paris is a forever destination for me and I try to go as often as possible. Paris promises an unforgettable weekend filled with enchantment, discovery, and the unmistakable joie de vivre of the French capital.
San Juan, Puerto Rico:

Honestly, San Juan is one of my favorite destinations in the Caribbean. With its proximity to the East Coast, San Juan, Puerto Rico, stands as an enticing choice for a long weekend trip offering a blend of history, culture, natural beauty, and amazing food. As the vibrant capital city, San Juan offers travelers a rich tapestry of experiences and pristine beaches where beautiful blue waters will beckon sun-seekers and water sports enthusiasts alike.
Visiting the UNESCO-listed Old San Juan transports visitors back in time, inviting them to explore its historic forts, museums, and charming plazas. Beyond its cultural allure, San Juan boasts The city's dynamic culinary scene tantalizes taste buds with a fusion of traditional Puerto Rican flavors and innovative gastronomic creations. The time-honored Puerto Rican comfort food of Mofongo is a delicious dish made from mashed fried plantains mixed with garlic, pork cracklings, and other seasonings. While I tried Mofongo with slow-cooked pork and shrimp, there are so many combinations to try that you could eat this dish several times while visiting and have a great time finding your favorite choice
Whether strolling through the bustling streets, soaking up the sun on the shore, or savoring delectable cuisine, San Juan promises an unforgettable weekend escape filled with warmth, charm, and a vibrant Caribbean spirit.
Tulum, Mexico:

While there are several popular options when visiting Mexico, Tulum has always been my absolute favorite. Emerging as an enticing option for a long weekend trip, Tulum offers a captivating blend of natural beauty with its abundance of cenotes to visit, the ability to explore ancient history in its Mayan ruins, and ample time to bask in the overall laid-back luxury and spa-type energy.
Nestled along the pristine shores of Mexico's Riviera Maya, Tulum is the perfect location to charter a yacht and enjoy a drink or go deep-sea fishing in crystal-clear waters. Visit one of the many beach clubs located on the secluded beaches, and enjoy pampering service from the amazing staff, great food, and fun music to dance the entire day and night away.
With its bohemian vibe and eco-friendly ethos, Tulum invites relaxation and rejuvenation, whether through yoga sessions on the beach, indulgent spa treatments, or farm-to-table dining experiences at chic seaside restaurants. A weekend in Tulum promises an immersive escape into paradise, where nature, culture, and serenity converge in absolute perfect harmony.
Jaco, Costa Rica

If you are looking for sun, sand, and adventure, Jaco, Costa Rica stands out as an ideal choice for a long weekend trip. With its offering of a captivating blend of natural wonders, adventure activities, and cultural experiences, Costa Rica is the place for you. Just a short flight away from the East Coast of the US, this tropical paradise beckons travelers with its lush rainforests, pristine beaches, and diverse wildlife.
Spending your mornings catching the perfect wave while learning to surf or zip-lining through lush rainforests, followed by lazy afternoons sipping on tropical cocktails and indulging in mouthwatering local cuisine is the perfect mix of adventure and rest. On my first walk through the jungle seeing (and smelling!) the sloths and cute white face monkeys was something I had never experienced in any other location. Find a treehouse in the jungle to wake up to the wildlife and travel to the beaches to put your feet in the powdery white sand and azure blue waters.
Beyond its natural beauty, the country's vibrant culture and friendly locals welcome travelers to immerse themselves in traditional cuisine, artisan markets, and lively festivals. As with most Central American countries, seafood is a staple of this beach town with a variety of ceviche on almost all menus but don't limit yourself to just this delicacy. Sharing a plate of the traditional Chifrijo, a crispy fried pork dish with beans, rice, avocado, and Pico de Gallo, with a cold Pilsen beer or a glass of Guaro Sour as you watch the sunset sink into the ocean will certainly rejuvenate you. With its accessibility and abundance of attractions, Costa Rica promises an unforgettable weekend getaway filled with adventure, relaxation, and cultural discovery amidst the beauty of Central America.
